A Comedy of Shipwrecks and Love Triangles
“Twelfth Night” is one of Shakespeare’s most entertaining comedies, brimming with romance, mistaken identities, and delightful absurdity. The story follows Viola, who, after a shipwreck, disguises herself as a man and finds herself entangled in a complex love triangle. Orsino, the Duke, is in love with Olivia, who, mourning her brother’s death, has turned down his advances. To win Olivia’s heart, Orsino sends Cesario (Viola in disguise) with love letters, only for Olivia to fall in love with Cesario. What ensues is a humorous and touching exploration of love, identity, and mischief.
