LODGING UPDATE The summer season starts picking up as we head into late June and early July. Total occupancy over the next two weeks is pacing 13% ahead of 2023, with the next four days significantly ahead of last year due to Bluegrass timing. Total occupancy over Bluegrass weekend is 6% behind last year’s festival at 71%, and average daily rate (ADR) is 18% lower at $692.    Looking ahead to the 4th of July holiday, the destination is pacing 7% ahead of last year at 59%, and average daily rate (ADR) is flat. Total occupancy peaks at 69% on the evening of the 4th, which is 16% ahead of 2023.    ADR and total occupancy are both pacing 1% ahead for the remaining summer months. July is currently 1% ahead YOY, August is pacing 6% higher, September is 8% behind and October is tracking ahead by 4%.  With the summer marketing campaign live, and booking windows shorter than winter months, lodging metrics can change quickly. AIR UPDATE After a sluggish start, summer bookings have continued to pace up week to week through May and into early June. Summer (May-Oct) is now pacing up approximately 10-12% overall. May finished well ahead with the added capacity, and the core months (June-Sep) are pacing up 8-10%, with June and July up roughly 10%, August up around 8%, September flat, and October down 10%. A large share of the gains are on the new mainline (large) jets on the DEN-MTJ route, with a likely higher level of local and regional usage. Taking that into account when forecasting tourism traffic, visitor numbers are likely several points lower than the pacing above.
