About the Telluride Mountain Club
The Telluride Mountain Club (TMtC) is committed to preserving and enhancing public access to a variety of human-powered activities, including hiking, biking, backcountry skiing and snowboarding, mountaineering, climbing, and Telluride’s unique via ferrata.
Founded in 1986 as an avalanche education organization, TMtC has evolved into a vital advocate for responsible and safe backcountry travel and recreation. The club upholds values of personal responsibility, self-sufficiency, and environmental stewardship, while also safeguarding the “Freedom of the Hills” for every adventurer.
