It’s officially sweater weather! The leaves are changing, there’s a (major) chill in the air, and the first official day of autumn is Sunday. Who else is ready for some leaf-peeping?! In addition to soaking up the cooler air and fall colors, there are plenty of events going on in Telluride and Mountain Village this week.
In music land, the beloved $1 Community Night takes over the Sheridan Opera House Thursday with Mr. Mota, the Ivalas Quartet will be performing on Saturday, there will be Jazz Brunch at Altezza at The Peaks on Sunday, the last Chamber Music Happy Hour of the season is next Tuesday at Telluride Arts HQ, and Tyler Simmons will be performing for free at the SHOW Bar’s patio next Wednesday. The Alibi also has a full slate of music this week, including performances by The Gold Kings, Rebecca Tilles and Emily Frembgen, The Runaway Grooms, The Drew Dvorchak Band, The Patti Fiasco and Wabi.
Foodies will enjoy the events this week, too. Enjoy a food and wine pairing class at 221 South Oak on Saturday, a seafood dinner at Communion Wine Bar for their summer dinner series or a wine tasting with Caymus Vineyards at Altezza at The Peaks on Tuesday, and free wine tastings at the Mountain Village Wine Merchant every Wednesday.
If you’re looking to move your body, the Telluride Bike Park’s FUN-Duro will be returning over the weekend for the second year, the Mountains to Desert Classic takes place on Saturday with routes from Telluride, Ridgway and Norwood to Gateway, there is a September Dance Class Series on Sunday at the Palm Theatre, and Mountain Trip and Arc’Teryx are hosting a fall climbing clinic on Tuesday.
Other notable events include Dinner & A Movie on Friday (“IF”) and Saturday (“Dune: Part Two”) at the Telluride Conference Center, Mysto’s Really Big Magic Show (family-friendly) on Friday at the Palm Theatre, Fireside Chats on Wednesdays at the Madeline Hotel and Residences, Lone Tree Cemetery Tours on Fridays through Oct. 4, and the Telluride Farmers’ Market on Fridays on Oak Street. Be sure to check out the Pintern Presentations on Tuesday at the Sheridan Opera House – It’s a great local event that highlights seniors sharing their summer internship experiences.
