WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK
You’ve probably noticed some smoke in the air this week – It’s smoke from wildfires burning in Oregon, Washington and Canada. While there are no active wildfires nearby, this is a good reminder to always be wildfire aware – 87% of wildfires are human-caused and preventable. Summertime fun continues this week with plenty of live music! Catch Anna Moss and the Nightshades tonight at the Sunset Music Series (Aaron Watson next week), the Summer Singer-Songwriter Series with Covenhoven tomorrow night at Telluride Arts HQ, Brendan James at Music on the Green on Friday, Love Letters to Vincent at the Michael D. Palm Theatre and Harvey Street at The Alibi on Saturday, Shadowgrass next Tuesday at The Alibi and Desert Child for KOTO’s Live at the Drive next Wednesday. As usual, the regular weekly events roll on this week with the Telluride Farmers’ Market on Friday, Market on the Plaza on Wednesdays in Mountain Village, Historic Walking Tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Movies Under the Stars will feature “We Bought a Zoo” on Saturday. Telluride Theatre’s production of Shakespeare in the Park – Twelfth Night continues through Sunday, Mind Blown has performances on Friday and Saturday, and Town Talks will take over the Conference Center on Tuesday. For some last-minute fun, be sure to catch Jad Abumrad at the Michael D. Palm Theatre tonight! Plus, if you want a true taste of the Wild West, the San Miguel County Basin Rodeo is this Friday and Saturday in Norwood. The Telluride Mountain Club is such a great asset to our community – They maintain our trails and provide safe, accessible, enjoyable and respectful opportunities for human-powered recreational activities in the Telluride region.
