From June 30 to July 6, 2025, Telluride’s streets, alleyways, and mountain vistas become open-air studios during one of the most beloved summer traditions: the Telluride Plein Air Festival.
This annual celebration of creativity and community is more than just an art event—it’s a vital fundraiser for the Sheridan Arts Foundation (SAF) and a living canvas that captures the beauty, light, and soul of Telluride.
🖌️ What Is Plein Air Painting?
“Plein air” means painting outdoors in natural light. During the festival, over 30 nationally acclaimed plein air artists will set up their easels throughout town, capturing everything from the box canyon views to the quiet charm of Main Street. It’s immersive, expressive, and deeply local.
